Writing Focus - Theme Analysis

Themes are concepts or abstract ideas that reveal meaning within a text.  You are able to identify themes based upon the language, the characters’ actions and thoughts, and the movement of the plot. By analyzing a literary text, you gain a more insightful and comprehensive understanding of the work. Exploring themes in the tragedy, Oedipus the King/Oedipus Rex, allows you to create connections and move from the literal level of understanding to the figurative level of understanding.
