If you have ever lived on a tropical island, you will realize that change does not occur often. The water and air temperature stay constant. It is sunny almost every day. Islands are isolated areas. This isolation creates an area that resists change.
While the physical landscape and climate stay relatively the same, the characters on the island will undergo changes in their personalities as they endure challenges and as time passes on the island. Some characters will only change in minor ways, while others change dramatically. The lack of rules and isolation of the island causes some characters to act savage and barbaric. Later, you will be able to look back at Chapter One and see hints about these changes in the characters' original descriptions.
