Lord of the Flies, Chapters Five and Six

As you move through your own life, you will want to make clear decisions. While you will never know the effects of every one of your decisions, planning your actions always helps. In the novel, the boys are trying to survive, but because of unclear thinking which leads to poor decision making, the boys rush through decisions. The boys never stop to think about the possible consequences and as a result, they must deal with the negative effects. To better understand the characters as well as how and why they change, continue to examine cause and effect relationships. This will also help you understand why things get as bad as they eventually do.
