Literary or new journalism, while still a relatively new form of journalism, has quickly become one of the predominant forms of nonfiction writing in America. Literary journalism addresses the human need to report and know the facts of a situation with the need to understand why these events occurred at all. By reporting factual information about people and events using a literary narrative style, literary journalists are able to bring true events to light in a compelling way, even if they do so at the risk of taking too much artistic license.
