Part One: Persuasive Essay

For this application activity, you will write a first draft of your developing persuasive essay. Using the outline you have perfected throughout the module, compose a rough draft of your persuasive essay. Remember to incorporate the new skills you learned in this topic, such as incorporating transitions and writing an effective conclusion.

Before you begin writing the rough draft of your persuasive essay, review the Persuasive Essay Rubric to help you complete your assignment and understand how your work will be graded.

Part Two: Check for Understanding

Now that you have submitted your rough draft, you will engage in a phone or web-based "check for understanding" with your instructor. This conversation will serve as part of your Application for this topic. During this conversation, your instructor will provide you with a prompt or series of questions about the writing process. Your instructor will expect you to provide detailed information about this topic's content. In order to prepare for this activity, you should make sure that you have:

  1. Read or viewed the material that has been covered in this topic;
  2. Taken notes on any assigned content; and
  3. Reviewed your notes and instructor feedback from previous assignments.
