Throughout this module, you have looked at the struggles and unfavorable conditions of children, minorities, and women. The published works of Realist authors have been pivotal in the endeavor to effect social change. Although the nation has come a long way in improving the welfare of these groups, there is still much that can be done. The use of Realism as a means of revealing social injustice is still relevant today as long as social injustice still exists.
Take a moment to think about which of all the social groups you have explored in this module have come the farthest in improving their conditions: children, minorities, or women? Then, think about examples of modern expression (film, speeches, blogs, articles, books, poems, etc.) that employ Realism in order to shed light on modern social injustices.
