Sound Devices

cubesArtist iconA cube is a three-dimensional object with six square sides. Examples of cubes include square packing boxes, dice, or the blocks in the image to the right. In this activity, you will use the Sound Devices Cube Template to create a three-dimensional information cube about the six different sound devices you explored in this topic. On each of the cube's six sides, you will need to include the following items:

  • The name of one of the six sound devices;
  • A short description of the sound device; and
  • An example of the sound device from poetry.

Your cube should be creative, informative, accurate, and well-organized. The template is structured so that you are able to cut out the cube using the solid lines, fold the shapes on the dotted lines, and attach the cube together by applying adhesive to the gray tabs. It is recommended that you create your design before assembling your cube. Before you begin, access the Sound Devices Cube Checklist to make sure that you include all of the items required for full credit. You may need to use resources outside of this course to complete this assignment, so you will need to submit a Works Cited document. If you need assistance, visit the Developmental Module for information on citing any resources that you use.

Options to create your cube include the following:

  1. Hand-draw the cube squares, assemble the cube, and then take a picture of it for submission to the assignment’s dropbox.
  2. Utilize a paint or graphics program to design the cube squares, assemble the cube, and then take a picture of it for submission to the assignment’s dropbox.
  3. Utilize a three-dimensional modeling software to design and assemble the cube, and then submit your model to the assignment's dropbox.
