The Menu
It can be fun and exciting to visit restaurants in a foreign country. As you have learned, a traditional French breakfast consists of a roll, a pastry, or a piece of bread. This is often served alongside café au lait. Children drink hot chocolate instead, and may eat cereal.
You also learned that for many French people, lunch is the largest meal of the day, and dinner is usually eaten around 8:00 pm. Menus in francophone countries almost always have a menu à prix fixe, which allows you to pay one set price for the meal, and choose from a variety of options for each course. Finally, you learned that when dining out in a French restaurant, the tip is generally included in the price of the menu items. This means you would not need to add gratuity to your bill, which would be paid in euros.
