Individual Sports and Metabolism

What does your day look like in terms of activity? During the week for most of the year, you likely spend a lot of time at a desk in school, but what are you doing other times of the day?

graphic organizer iconDocument each activity and the times you are doing them. The example below shows how you might format your day's description (however, you will need to fill out all the hours of the school day).  Your day will probably be different.

Example:

Time Activity
6:30 a.m. Wake up, get ready for school
7:30 a.m. Arrive at bus stop to go to school
8:00 a.m. First block: History
9:00 a.m. Second block: Health and P.E.
-
-
4:00 p.m. Cheering practice
6:00 p.m. Eat dinner
7:00 p.m. Homework
9:00 p.m. Read book/play music
9:30 p.m. Shower and get ready for bed
10:00 p.m. Go to bed

After you have described your day, calculate how many hours you spend being physically active. For instance, in the example above, the person would be physically active nearly three hours if P.E. class is an hour and if cheering practice lasted for two hours. Do you think you need more physical activity? What types of activities do you do individually versus with a group? Write down your thoughts and revisit them later in this topic.
