Tidal Characteristics

Would you like to see some large changes in tides? If you do, then you might want to take a trip to Nova Scotia. The Bay of Fundy is a large inlet of the Atlantic Ocean and is famous for its tide and tidal bore. The tides can reach 40 to 50 feet in height. At low tide, the flat parts of the Bay contain no water and the rivers feeding the bay are drained. The tidal flood creates a bore that can run at least 17 miles through the Bay and up rivers. So extreme sports enthusiasts have even found a way to surf the tidal bore!
