Special Relativity

Einstein's Theory equationEinstein’s Theory of Special Relativity represents a revolutionary change in physics. The decision to hold the speed of light as a constant for all observers went against everything that physicists knew about relative motion.  As speeds approach the speed of light, time passes more slowly, lengths get shorter, and mass increases. Mass and energy are different forms of the same thing, and are equated by his famous equation E = mc2. Einstein’s persistence and creativity were rewarded when observations confirmed his theories. His legacy lives on in technological advances of today that use his ideas.
