Nature vs. Nurture
How much of who we are is due to our genetics, and how much is due to our home life, friends, and experiences? Behavior geneticists attempt to answer this deep question by studying the shared traits of identical twins separated at birth, and adopted children. By studying these groups researchers are able to investigate the influence of environment and heredity on individuals. Such studies on twins have revealed that genetics play a large role in personality, intelligence, and psychological disorders, while values and beliefs are more influenced by the environment.
