Other Theories of Personality
Each personality theory offers a different perspective on the personality debate. Neither humanists nor trait theorists seek to discover how personality develops. Rather, the trait perspective attempts to discover how to accurately measure various traits through personality inventories, like the Big Five and the Cattell Sixteen. Humanists believe that personality should continuously grow and improve as people use their free will to reach their full potential. The socio-cognitive theory focuses on how personality can change due to the interaction of thoughts and environment.
