The Constitution
During your previous studies, you learned that the framers of the Constitution were intent on appropriately balancing the power between the national government and state governments, while also protecting the rights of individuals. The framers designed the Constitution to meet their goals, including:
- strengthen the power central government;
- protect the individual rights of citizens;
- protect the rights of states; and
- place appropriate limits on the power of government.
How important are these goals in creating an effective government? Rank the goals in order from 1 to 4. Give the most important goal a ranking of 1, the next most important goal a ranking of 2, and so on.
