Jamestown and the Southern Colonies

Girl with TabletMicroblogs are social networking services that allow people to create mini-blog posts of up to 140 characters in length. Companies, celebrities, and politicians use microblogs to keep "followers" up to date on important events and news, but anyone can create a microblog account to communicate the events and news going on in his or her life. A sample set of two microblog posts about the colonization of the New World is shown here:

Just received a large grant, time to start this colony.

People are starving, they refuse to work, and the colony is struggling.

For this assignment, you will need to create a short collection of five microblog posts that reference five different facts, events, and characteristics during the colonization of the New World. Your microblog posts should cover the Jamestown settlement, the Southern society, and slavery. As modeled in the example above, these posts do not have to be complete sentences, but they should be complete thoughts. Your microblog posts should be creative and easy to understand. In addition, be sure to use appropriate language and vocabulary from this topic.

Before you begin, access the The Colonization of the New World Microblog Checklist to make sure that you include all of the items required for full credit.
