Immigration
While immigrants come to the United States for many reasons, the most important reasons remain political freedom and economic opportunity. Immigrants to the United States contribute in many ways. They bring cultural diversity in music, visual arts, and literature. They are often willing to do low-paying jobs that native-born Americans are not, so they take jobs that are hard to fill. Immigrants are responsible for achievements in science, engineering, technology, and other fields. Immigration also has its controversies. In particular, the influx of illegal immigrants coming to the United States raises issues of concern around border security, additional strain on and need for government services, and whether a pathway to citizenship should be provided for individuals who broke the law to come here.
