The Cold War
Cold War Comic
Think back to the comic book cover you encountered in the warm-up activity. Although the cover is still available, the pages on the inside have gone missing, and you need to replace them. Using information you learned during this portion of your journey, create a six page story that goes along with the comic book cover. Touch on the following topics in your story:
- Contrast world views held by the United States and the Soviet Union;
- Explain the nuclear arms race and the role of spies;
- Describe the role of Senator McCarthy;
- Detail massive retaliation; and
- Explain impacts of the Cold War on American life in general and on Virginia.
Remember, comic books are mostly pictures, but include some text and dialogue. Before you begin, access the Cold War Comic Checklist to make sure you include all of the items required for full credit. You may need to use resources outside of this course to complete the assignment. If so, please submit a Works Cited document. If you need assistance, visit the Developmental Module for information on citing resources that you used.
Options to create your comic include the following:
- Hand draw your comic, and then take a picture of it for submission into the assignment's dropbox.
- Hand draw your comic, and then scan it for submission into the assignment's dropbox.
