Oedipus Rex, Prologue - Scene Two

Within a tragedy, the tragic hero is faced with both internal and external conflicts.  In facing these conflicts, the tragic hero’s hubris gradually reveals itself to the audience.  In this topic, you will be introduced to Sophocles’ tragic hero, Oedipus.  Oedipus, the King of Thebes, unknowingly begins his journey of self-discovery.  As the citizens of Thebes look to Oedipus to save the city, Oedipus’ tragic flaw begins to manifest.
