Take a moment and consider the word "success." What thoughts immediately come to mind? Each student may define success differently. For you, does being successful mean getting straight A's or is maintaining a B average reason to celebrate? Does success for yourself encompass a range of school activities, or does it revolve around one area of interest such as your science studies or performance in the school orchestra? Would you say that your parents define success the same way that you do? How do your peers compare?
Based on your high school experiences thus far, think about your definition of success and what you would have to do to achieve it. In your journal, write what success means to you, and then list at least ten skills that you feel are needed to be successful.
