girl annotatingNow that you have learned about text annotation and seen an example of an annotated story, choose ONE of the short stories below to annotate. Using review tools in ONE of the methods described below, annotate the text as clearly as possible. Make sure to use active-reading strategies, such as underlining or highlighting key words and points, and asking questions along the way.

Before you begin, download the Active Reading Annotation Rubric to make sure that you understand how your annotation assignment will be assessed. Please include all of the items in your annotation that are required for full credit.

Options to create your annotations include the following:

  1. Print out the story and hand-write your annotations on the document. Then, take a picture of each page for submission to the assignment’s dropbox.

  3. Use word-processing software to create your annotations using commenting or mark-up tools. Then, submit the document to the dropbox.
  4. Use a mobile or computer-based application to create your annotations. Then, email or export the final product for submission to the assignment’s dropbox.
