It is the first week of high school for James. He is having difficulty carrying all of his new textbooks around school. His backpack weighs fifteen pounds with all of his books and supplies. James gets out of breath when he walks up the stairs to some of his classes. At the end of the day, James is exhausted and his neck, shoulders, and back ache.
Are James’ difficulties related to muscular strength, muscular endurance, or both? How can James improve his physical fitness and make these tasks less difficult? Write your response and explain your reasoning.
