Social Thinking - Attitudes and Actions
Now that you have learned about the key concepts of social thinking, apply your knowledge to a common practical problem: how can you get people to recycle?
For this assignment, your challenge is to create an effective campaign to increase recycling at your school. You will need to shift people’s attitudes as well as their behavior, by using some of the key principles of social thinking and persuasion that you learned about in this topic.
Your recycling campaign should include the following elements:
- A poster design including both words and images;
- An explanation of how the poster uses both central route persuasion and peripheral route persuasion; and
- A description of a plan for how members of the recycling club can increase recycling at the school through using two of the following techniques: foot-in-the-door technique, door-in-the-face technique, and social reciprocity.
Before you begin, access the Recycling Campaign Checklist to make sure that you include all of the items required for full credit.
