Adulthood and Aging
Developmental psychologists have studied the typical tasks and challenges people experience as they enter the various stages of adulthood. These findings constitute generalities; therefore, variation among individuals exists. Generally speaking, young adults focus on careers and relationships, while middle adults experience transitions with jobs, children, and parents. Finally, in late adulthood, people take time to redefine and reflect on their lives. By gaining knowledge of each stage, your empathy can increase, and you will better understand the needs and challenges other people face.
