Stress and Coping
Stress is your body’s natural response to demands called stressors. Stressors can be positive or negative, and the duration of stress can be acute or chronic. Most of the damaging effects of stress come from chronic, daily hassles. Hans Selye found that the body enters three distinct states when presented with chronic stress. In addition, stress can negatively affect your health. Researchers have discovered a variety of coping strategies aimed at preventing the harmful effects of stress. These include relaxation techniques, social support, and exercise.
