Lincoln’s Documents

Terrance at a podiumAbraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address is perhaps one of the most recognizable speeches in American History. President Lincoln was not meant to be the key speaker at the dedication of the Union cemetery at Gettysburg. His speech was so short that he was actually seated before any clear photographs could be taken of him during the address. The Gettysburg Address proved that a speech does not have to be long to be effective. What makes a speech memorable and effective? What strategies should be utilized when delivering a speech? Should a speech contain more than one goal?
