Making A CakeGreek tragedians such as Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides knew what it took to write a great tragedy. With the correct combination of elements, writing a tragedy is like baking a cake from a recipe. Have you ever baked a cake using a recipe? If you follow the instructions, the cake will cook correctly and will taste great! However, if you are missing a key ingredient, your cake will not turn out as you expected. Now that you have been introduced to background information on Greek tragedy, you have been given the essential elements for what it takes to create a tragedy.  In this assignment, you are to create a recipe for the ideal tragedy.

If you are not familiar with cooking, a recipe is a set of instructions that describes how to cook or prepare food. Recipes start by listing all of the ingredients, which allows the chef to prepare food once they have gathered items needed to complete the dish. In this assignment, your list of ingredients will be the list of essential elements in a Greek tragedy. The recipe includes instructions on how to combine all of those ingredients. It is important to follow the order of the instructions. Do the essential elements in a tragedy have a particular order to follow? This is something you will need to think about when you are developing these instructions. Your instructions will list the order of your Greek tragedy or the order in which the essential elements are combined.
