Driving With Protection

Thinking TeenAt this point, you may be wondering "What type of car insurance do I need?" and "How much is it going to cost me?" The two parts of the assignment below will help you figure out these questions. Be sure to complete both Part I and Part II.

Part I

Using the Types of Automobile Insurance Organizer Template, create a graphic organizer showing each of the five types of auto insurance discussed in this topic. For each type of insurance coverage, include the following information:

  • Explain each type of auto insurance
  • Indicate if each type is required by law
  • Who/What is covered by each type
  • Give an example of when each type would be used

 

Part II

Boy with IDIn this lesson, you learned that it can be very beneficial to shop around for car insurance and compare prices. Using the information provided next to Sam's picture on the left, and the Insurance Coverage Comparison Worksheet, call two different auto insurance companies to find out the different car insurance rates for each type of coverage listed. On the worksheet, you will need to record the contact information for each of the companies, the cost of coverage from each company, and then make a decision about which company that you would use to purchase insurance.
