Blood donation
In this application, you will prepare to volunteer for an important cause, although you will not yet have to take the steps and actively do service.

Choose a health-related social issue you feel is worthy of supporting. Although you can use examples described in this course, you may also choose to focus on a different issue. The following examples of social issues may help guide your research.

  • Blood donation
  • Homelessness
  • Addiction
  • Depression
  • Cancer
  • Bullying
  • Intellectual Disabilities

Once you have decided on an important social issue you feel passionate about, find a local, national, or international nonprofit that supports the issue you selected. Use the Preparing to Volunteer Guide to discover whether an organization fits well with your personal service-learning goals.

Before you begin, access the Preparing to Volunteer Checklist to make sure you include all of the items required for full credit.
